About my cars

Both of these cars are dear to me for various reasons. I used to change cars when I was very stressed or very restless so in 32 years of driving I have had about 25 cars. However, these cars have endured in my possession while all of the others (despite being more practical or drive-able) have been discarded.

1978 Flamenco Red

Key features:
  • 1995 Celebration Red interior
  • HE dashboard with Dark Maple wood trim
  • Toyota Supra 5 speed manual gearbox
  • Electric speedometer conversion using HE gauge
  • Quad throttle intake using modified manifold and Nissan 300ZX bodies
  • Twin electric fans ex AU Ford Falcon
  • Crane/FAST XR3000 electronic ignition

1978 British Racing Green

I acquired this car from a fellow BOYS Car Club member who had lost patience and ordered a manual Ford Mustang. It had the manual conversion already installed and the paintwork was a credit to him, but he had not managed to get the ignition or electric speedo working. This made it a good choice for an electrical engineer :-)

It was a nightmare to bring home (Colorado blew its air hose off repeatedly; xjs slid off the trailer down my steep driveway.)  However I was able to find 2 injectors and 1 spark plug disconnected, getting it back up to all 12 cylinders.

Key features:

  • British Racing Green with Tan interior
  • Toyota Supra 5 speed manual gearbox
  • Electric speedometer conversion using HE gauge
  • Enlarged throttle bodies with XJ40 discs and bell mouth
  • Custom twin electric fans
  • Crane/FAST XR700 electronic ignition
